Green Is The New Black.

I like how the condominium management is making an effort to cut down on the energy consumption and doing their part in being green. I'm doing my part also, by:

1. Switching off and unplugging unused appliances.
2. Reusing water.
3. Using energy saving light bulbs.
4. Bringing my own shopping bags.
5. Using cloth diaper for the baby.
6. Recycling plastic bottles, papers and cans.

It might not seem much, but I believe it is a lot better than doing nothing. What about you? Don't be ignorant, people. Our planet is getting sicker each day. Let's do our part. It's not that hard, really.

Found some good tips on how to go green at home at Simplemom.net.

Recycle!

We've been meaning bring all of our plastic bottles (which had taken a lot of space in our store room, alongside the hubster's Transformers) to Ikano Recycling Centre since donkey years, but weekends seemed to move very fast (or maybe it was just pure procrastination) that we barely had time to do so. Finally last Sunday we got around to it.

Doesn't seem so much, right? But trust me, these plastics are huge and it could accommodate quite a number of bottles.
And for all those, we got paid a grand total of... (drum roll please),
TWO RINGGIT MALAYSIA.
Yeah! We were like rich for about 5 minutes. Then we paid the parking fee. Which was RM2.
So the next time we want to go recycle, I think I'll just go to some random recycling kiosk behind my house.

P/S: How much do you think I would get if I were to recycle the Transformers? Heh.

Save Our Earth (And Our Pockets, Too)

My baby has finally jumped onto the Cloth Diaper bandwagon! My generous and super awesome mother-in-law bought him a couple of Lunatots Cloth Diaper (snap button with pocket), costing RM46 each at Amcorp Mall. We're planning to get him a few more, perhaps the ones with prints on it.

What exactly is Cloth Diaper, you might ask. Please read on, this was taken from Lunatots leaflet.

Concept of Modern Diapers (Cloth Diaper)
Modern diapers also known as Cloth Diaper (CD) is fairly new in Malaysia as a safe alternative in diapering your babies. No extreme chemical exposure to your child as the material is made from cloth. CD is a good choice in terms of financial for couples who have more than one child that are still using nappies. And it is also practical for working parents as it is easy to handle compared to the traditional cloth diaper. Use of CD is also proven to expedite the process of potty training as the normal disposable diaper contains chemical absorption gel which makes your child feels dry and comfortable. Hence the natural process of potty training was delayed.
Head on to Lunatots Cloth Diaper Articles page to read more on Cloth Diapers.

And of course, we need a fashion shot, yes?

By the way, do you know that disposable diapers take an estimated 500 years to decompose? It is the third biggest source of pollution even though only 5% of the world's population use it.
